The US Federal Trade Commission (FTC) and 20 states have filed a lawsuit against discount chain Dollar General for defrauding customers, Fortune reports. According to the regulator, the company systematically collected a payment at the cash registers that exceeded prices on the shelves and in advertising materials. The department emphasized that the retailer's management was aware of the problem, but did not solve it, which caused significant financial damage to consumers.
