The US authorities have declared a state of emergency in the country's largest power system, PJM, following a sharp increase in the electricity consumption of data centers for artificial intelligence, Izbastia writes. According to Bank of America forecasts, between 2026 and 2030, the United States could face an annual electricity shortage of 100 gigawatts. The development of artificial intelligence infrastructure is making significant progress on the ability to expand networks: by 2028, the share of energy consumption in data centers may increase to 12% of the total production in the country.
