During mass demonstrations on October 24, police arrested about a thousand people, RBC reports citing Interior Minister Loren Nunez. According to the head of the department, the security forces managed to prevent many cases of looting, but isolated cases of damage to property and looting of shops were recorded. In general, the demonstrations passed peacefully, the minister noted, adding that the final number of detainees may increase after all the data is collected.
