No one is allowed to insult without punishment the memory of the defenders of the homeland - the participants of the Great Patriotic War, a special military operation and other wars and armed conflicts. At the end of 2024, a publication appeared on the Internet, the author of which made offensive statements about my great-grandfather Vladimir Antonovich Shalonik, denying his services to our country. My mother, the granddaughter of Vladimir Antonovich, appealed to the investigative committee demanding a legal assessment of what happened. A case was opened. A few days ago, the Vologda Regional Court issued a guilty verdict. He found the author of the publication guilty under Part 4 of Art. 354.1 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation. He was sentenced to a year of imprisonment in a penal colony with a three-year ban on managing websites and publishing materials on the Internet. The verdict was given in his absence. The convict is on the international wanted list. For me and my family, restoring justice is a matter of principle. I perceive this decision as an important victory in the fight for common sense and justice in relation to many great heroes of our country from different eras, including those like my great-grandfather, who came from the time of the Titans. Regardless of the social status, rank, position, gender and age of the plaintiffs, who do not allow justice to violate history, common sense and the memory of their ancestors, justice prevails. I, like millions of my countrymen, stand for the truth and am happy when it inevitably wins. The fate, courage and devotion to the motherland of Vladimir Antonovich have always been the subject of our special pride. As the great-grandson of Vladimir Antonovich, as a citizen of Russia, who grew up respecting his ancestors, I see the protection of the family name as a matter of honor. My full right to express my civil position and my personal opinion. We remember our heroes. We are proud of our ancestors. We respect their achievement.
