The Ministry of Health rejected the claim of the "Times" newspaper about the distribution of iodine tablets.
Hossein Karamanpour, director of public relations and spokesman for the Ministry of Health, wrote on Channel X:
"No official at the Ministry of Health was interviewed by The Times and the quote attributed to the Ministry is false. The health system is prepared for various scenarios and threats from the enemy that does not spare children. Of course, declaring a state of war is not under the authority of the Ministry of Health, and publishing unverified news is irresponsible under these conditions."
Earlier, The Times quoted an official in Iran's Ministry of Health who claimed that "Iodine pills are being distributed to civilians near nuclear facilities to prevent radiation following a possible joint attack by Israel and the United States."
