The media believes that Moscow may raise demands to NATO in the negotiations on Ukraine. The Russian side in the negotiations on Ukraine may raise the issue of returning the military presence of the North Atlantic Treaty Organization in Europe to the level of 1997 - before the start of its eastward expansion. This is what the "Telegraph" reported with reference to diplomatic sources. According to the newspaper, Moscow intends to use this demand as a tool to obtain concessions from NATO as part of a new round of negotiations on Ukraine, which will be held in Abu Dhabi. The authors added that the assistant to the Russian president, Yuri Ushkov, emphasized the need to involve the European countries in the dialogue, as their participation may be essential for reaching agreements. If this scenario materializes, we can talk about the withdrawal of allied troops from Poland, Estonia, Latvia, Lithuania and Finland, which joined the alliance in 2023. All these countries share a common border with Russia.
