The GNOSIS chain will become ETHEREUM L2 —. NEW TECHNOLOGY CONNECTS ROLLUPS DIRECTLY TO THE MAINNET One of the most established ecosystems of blockchain sites is making a major architectural change. The GNOSIS chain is moving to Ethereum. According to a November 4 announcement, the Gnosis chain plans to cease operating as an independent Tier 1 and become part of the ETHEREUM economic zone in the spring of 2027. And the technology behind the move could solve one of Ethereum's biggest scaling problems. split liquidity. The Ethereum blockchain has dramatically reduced transaction costs, but assets and applications remain segregated across dozens of networks. Switching between them often requires bridges, additional transactions and waiting periods. The Ethereum Economic Zone wants to change that. The recently launched ROLLUP X testbed demonstrates synchronous adaptability. This means that smart contracts on the Ethereum network and corresponding rollups can interact within a single atomic transaction. Three demos at Devcon 8 show what this can enable. A cow exchange made a transaction using Ethereum mainnet liquidity while transferring the received tokens back to the pool in the same transaction. Safe has demonstrated coordinated changes in wallet ownership across Ethereum and Rollup X. And a post-quantum signature has been validated in a collection before a mainnet transfer is approved. The latest demo reduced the central gas required by about 91% compared to doing the full verification directly on Ethereum. But there is another big development. Gnosis says its future transition will preserve existing contracts, balances, addresses, chain ID and xDAI GAS TOKEN. Developers will not have to redeploy their applications. Important: ROLLUP X is currently a test network, and the transition to Gnosis chains is planned for 2027. The wider view is significant. Ethereum has spent years scaling through separate networks.
