CHAINLINK brings 24/7 pricing to token shares —. AAVE is the launch partner the traditional financial markets are closing. Ethereum and DeFi do not. And that creates a serious problem when real-world assets become collateral in blockchain lending markets. Chainlink introduces CHAINLINK 24/7, a new pricing service designed to provide continuous reference prices for stocks, commodities and other traditional assets. The first major DeFi effort is AAVE. Its institutional lending platform, Ofek, is adopting the updates, first for tokenized versions of heavily traded US stocks. Here's why it's important. Imagine a token share used as collateral in a DeFi lending position. The stock exchange closes on Friday, but the lending protocol continues to operate throughout the weekend. Without updated pricing, the protocol may rely on outdated market data while collateral and risk values continue to change. The Chain Links solution combines fixed and extended trading prices with perpetual futures data when traditional exchanges are closed. This creates a continuous update of a reference price, even during weekends and holidays. Important: the prices outside of business hours come from the derivatives markets, not actual trading on closed exchanges. Chainlink says its existing weekday pricing infrastructure already covers more than $1.6 billion in token shares. The larger development is a connection between two different financial systems. Traditional properties operate during fixed market hours. DeFi works 24 hours a day, seven days a week. If token shares are to become significant DeFi securities, reliable after-hours pricing will be essential. Chainlink and Aave are building another part of this infrastructure.
