ETHEREUM DRAFTS A POST-QUANTUM KEY REGIS Trial for all VALIDATOR Ethereum researchers are preparing for a threat that does not yet exist at scale. A new draft proposal called EIP-8450 will add a post-quantum public registry directly to Ethereum's Beacon chain. Any attacker can register a dormant host-based key associated with his attacker index. The new keys will not immediately replace today's BLSator signatures. Instead, Ethereum will pre-register them so that the network already has an attacker's quantum identity if a future upgrade needs to be encrypted. The proposal uses a signature system called HTXMSS. At the suggested maximum of eight registrations per block, approximately one ion VALIDATORS can register new keys in around 17 days. Important: EIP-8450 is STILL A DRAFT It has not confirmed task upgrade and no activation date. The idea is preparedness. Don't wait until quantum computers threaten today's signatures before we understand how each attacker proves who they are. Ethereum's post-continuum roadmap is slowly moving away from theory… into a concrete protocol design. @EumNews.
