A new ETHEREUM consensus client claims 10x faster block processing.

Ethereum just got another consensus client.

Gataka has unveiled Silver, a new open source client built from the ground up with a focus on faster Ethereum slots, post-quantum security and maintaining decentralization.

The header number comes from the Gatkas mainnet tests.

Silver processed the same 20,300 canonical Ethereum blocks as Prism, Beacon, and Grandin while recording a median state transition time of about 6.5 milliseconds.

The 99th percentile latency came in around 9.5 milliseconds.

Gataka says this makes Silver about 10 times faster than other benchmark clients.

Why does it matter?

Ethereum researchers want to shorten block times in future upgrades. Faster client software gives validators more room to process blocks without sacrificing network reliability.

Important: money is still alpha software.

Auditing, testing, and production hardening still need to occur before verifiers treat it as a mature major customer.

The variety of Ethereum clients is already a security feature.

Now the performance also becomes part of the competition..
