AAVE FROZE 292 reserves after the Binance attacker borrowed ~19,762 WETH.
Binance's hot wallet attack spilled directly into Ethereum DeFi overnight.
According to Awa, one wallet linked to the exploit deposited roughly $60 million in Awa V3 on Ethereum and borrowed about 19,762 WETH — worth about $44 million at the time.
Awa himself was not used. The position remains overcollateralized, with about $60 million of USDT backed by about $44 million of debt.
But the OBS security team was taking no chances.
The protocol temporarily froze 292 reserves in the V3 and V4 markets operated by the DAO. The freeze blocks new deposits and loans while still allowing users to repay debts, withdraw available funds and eliminate unhealthy positions.
Binance says the hot wallet incident caused an impact of around $6.3 billion, with around $3 billion already frozen on the network. The exchange says users will be fully covered.
Aoha's response shows another side of DeFi risk management.
The protocol was not hacked - but when stolen capital entered the system, the emergency controls were activated anyway.
