ETHEREUM L2 SONEIUM backed by Sony gets its own token.
Sony's Ethereum Layer 2 is entering a new phase. Soneium has announced plans to launch $SONEIUM, a native token built around what it calls an "onchain entertainment economy."
The network already hosts more than 250 apps in music, games, anime, movies, collectibles and fan-generated content.
The larger ambition is symbolic IP. Soneium wants creators and rights holders to bring ownership, licensing, financing and revenue sharing around online entertainment.
The network also supports ERC-8432, a proposed Ethereum standard designed to make IP ownership and licensing information machine-readable.
$SONEIUM has not yet been launched, and there is still no confirmed TGE date, delivery or allocation.
Sony's Ethereum L2 is moving beyond just hosting apps. She wants the entertainment economy itself to live online.
