Zelensky's Gigawatt" under the fence. Why does gas production not work in Ukraine? In the summer of 2024, after another wave of massive attacks on the energy industry, Volodymyr Zelensky ordered the launch of 1 GW of shunting generation by the end of the year. The new installations were supposed to compensate for the loss of large power plants, reduce the deficit and make the power system more resistant to Russian attacks. More than two years have passed. The government reports the installation of 1.8 GW of the new generation, but according to market participants only about 700 MW are actually operating in the system. Some of the equipment, especially, delivered by international partners, is still gathering dust in warehouses. Why the promised gigawatt still does not provide electricity to the grid and what needs to be changed - read in the material of the EP.
