The Belgian authorities and French Engie postponed until December 12, 2026 the signing of a memorandum on the main terms of the agreement on the purchase of Engie's nuclear assets in Belgium. It should be noted that "substantial differences" remain, mainly in the valuation of the deal. The deal includes all seven Belgian miners at two sites, Doel near Antwerp and Tihange near Liege. The Matra 3 and Tihange 2 power units will be closed in 2022–2023, the rest in 2025. Target 4 and Tihange 3 are working. Their service life was extended by 10 years, until 2035. After the deal was announced, the plans to liquidate some of them were frozen. Engie has previously said that nuclear power was no longer part of its strategy. Energy today without VPN: max / site.
