The implementation phase of the gas production project has begun in the Kronos field on the Cyprus shelf. This is the first gas project in Cyprus. I signed large engineering, procurement, construction and drilling contracts for the development of the Kronos project, totaling 1.8 billion dollars. Production is scheduled to begin in the first half of 2028. From now on, Cyprus can be considered a gas exporter. The produced gas will be transported by underwater pipelines to the existing facilities of the neighboring Egyptian Zohar field (also operated by I). After that, the fuel will be delivered to Segas' LNG liquefaction plant in the Egyptian port city of Damietta, from where it will be exported to international markets, mainly to Europe.
