The volume of Russians' funds on time deposits in September decreased by 85.9 billion rubles. The exodus continued, albeit at a slower pace than in August. At the same time, some of the money does not leave the banking system, but goes to savings accounts: the customers redistribute the savings between different products. It is important for banks to keep funds that have already been deposited. The credit institutions are in no rush to raise the interest rate massively. Instead of a general update of the terms, they use targeted offers, and often provide additional requirements to achieve increased profitability. The reason for caution is the desire to maintain margins. Higher interest rates help retain customers, but increase the cost of the money raised for the bank itself. Therefore, the September reduction in time deposits cannot be automatically equated with the withdrawal of this entire amount from the banks. The competition revolves around the terms of specific deposit products and the price of holding the funds. Ξeconomics.
