British-based Frasers Group has taken a majority stake in German clothing manufacturer Hugo Boss, increasing its holding from about 48% to 50.08%. After crossing the 50% threshold, the brand will become a subsidiary of the group, and its financial results will be taken into account in the group's consolidated reports. The transition to the majority was ensured by the purchase of 198,666 additional shares for approximately 7.6 million euros. Frasers currently owns more than 34 million shares of Hugo Boss. This is the result of a consistent increase in the German manufacturer's presence in the capital. However, majority ownership does not automatically control every operational decision. According to the rules of the German corporation, the day-to-day activities are managed by the Hugo Boss Board of Directors, which is responsible to the Supervisory Board. For Frasers, the acquisition changes the scope of its responsibility: its financial results will now include the revenues, assets and liabilities of the German manufacturer, and not just the result of its shareholding.
