In January-September 2026, Russia increased exports of liquefied natural gas by 7%. The increase was supported by supplies from the Arctic LNG-2 project to China. At the same time, the dynamics in the European direction is the opposite: in the third quarter, the volume of Russian supplies to the European Union decreased by 30%. The decline in European demand strengthens the role of the Asian direction. The redirection of the streams is of some importance due to the planned European restrictions. Starting in 2027, the EU imposes a ban on imports of the Russian Air Force under long-term contracts, and pipeline gas supplies should stop completely in the fourth quarter of 2027. These conditions constitute a specific horizon for the Russian gas industry in order to restore external sales. The increase in shipments to China already supports the cumulative result, but the decrease in European demand changes the export structure at the same time. The main result of nine months is the growth of the total volume with the increasing split of Asian and European directions. ECONOMICS.
