The foreign box office revenues of Russian cinema in January-September 2026 decreased by 45.9% and amounted to 4.6 million dollars. For the same period in 2025 they reached 8.5 million. The losses amounted to almost 3.9 million dollars. The biggest revenue among domestic releases was brought by the animated film "The Hermitage Cats 2": it collected 1.1 million dollars abroad. After that comes "Kraken" with 533.3 thousand dollars. Together, the two films generated approximately $1.63 million, more than a third of all export grosses during the nine months. The main markets of Russian cinema are Peru, Turkey and Italy. These countries turned out to be key targets for foreign funds, but the overall result was significantly weaker than last year. The decrease of almost half shows the limited financial result of the international box office. Even the most prominent releases did not make up for the overall drop in box office receipts. More than a third of the box office came from two films - revenues depend on the success of individual premieres.
