Russia is ready to discuss gas supplies to the EU if Western buyers show interest and Russian suppliers still have spare quantities for export. This is what presidential press secretary Dmitry Peskov said. According to him, the reduction of purchases in Europe has already forced Moscow to direct gas exports in other directions. Therefore, even if new requests appear from the EU, the previous volumes cannot be considered automatically available: some resources may be occupied by existing supplies. The Kremlin's position contains two conditions for possible negotiations. The desire of European counterparties alone is not enough - the availability of gas, which has not yet been distributed among other buyers, is also necessary. Therefore, the possibility of returning supplies to the European market remains a matter of discussion, not a promise. After changes in export flows, the main practical problem becomes the availability of the quantities that the EU previously purchased from Russia.
