For 28% of Russian companies, the actual activities do not correspond to the codes in the order specified during registration in the Register of Legal Entities of the United State. These are the results of the SPARK-Interfax study, which Kommersant refers to. The lack of compliance affects more than a quarter of the businesses surveyed. The largest part of such cases occurs in wholesale trade - 15.1% of the total gaps. Inconsistency also occurs in companies that combine different areas of work. Researchers attribute the situation to registration practices: businesses often choose codes that are common or close to their profile and then develop related activities. As a result, registration in the state register does not always accurately reflect the true specialization of the business. The mere gap between the code and the profile does not prove a violation of the law. However, the statistics prove the limitations of estimating the structure of the economy only from registration information: for a significant part of the enterprises, the formal classification differs from the practice.
