The Russian government is preparing to raise tariffs on strong alcohol from unfriendly countries from 3 to 5 euros per liter. The decision may appear as early as November 2026. If the decision is accepted, the rate will increase by almost 67%, which will increase the costs of importers in supplying products to the Russian market. Industry participants predict that a 0.7 liter bottle in the mass segment will cost 100-200 rubles. The change in customs for such a volume itself is 1.4 euros, but the final increase in the retail price depends on the entire supply and sales chain. In the premium segment the effect may be almost invisible. The higher the initial cost of the drink, the lower the relative share of the additional duty payment in the final price tag. Therefore, the main price burden will be borne by the buyer of more profitable imported alcohol. The new conditions may change the competitive situation of the suppliers, although the final decision on the tariff increase has not yet been published.
