Ticks have completed the hunting season for people in Pomorie. Rospotrabendzor Ministry for Arkhangelsk Region and Nantes Autonomous Okrug has summarized the results of the season of ixodid tick activity in 2026. Let us remember that carriers of deadly diseases began to hunt people very early - in March. As indicated by the department, in general, in the epidemic season of 2026 (as of October 23, 2026), 7,978 requests to medical organizations regarding tick bites were registered in the region, that is, 29.8% less than in the corresponding period in 2025. The final diagnosis of ticks was confirmed in borreliosis. Viral encephalitis in 49 cases. Most requests to medical organizations regarding sucking ticks were registered in the city of Arkhangelsk - 883, Velsky district - 843, Kotlas - 647, Ustyansky district - 600. for the period from 01/01/2026 to 09/30. 2026 16,871 people were vaccinated against tick-borne viral encephalitis, including 7,064 children, 25,665 people were revaccinated, including 8,518 children. During the epidemic season of 2026, 6,345 ticks taken from people were tested in the laboratories of medical organizations in the region and the Federal Budgetary Health Institute "Center for Hygiene and Epidemiology in the Arkhangelsk Region and the Nantes Autonomous Okrug". 1127 (2.0%) were positive for tick-borne encephalitis virus antigen. 3,663 individuals were tested for pathogens of other tick-borne infections, of which 1,567 (42.7%) were positive for tick-borne borreliosis, 123 (3.4%) were positive for monocytic ehrlichiosis, and 1 (0.1%) was positive for granulocytic enplasmosis. Rospotrabendzor's interregional office for the Arkhangelsk Region and the Nant Autonomous Okrug reminds that the month of November is the best time to vaccinate against viral encephalitis in ticks, since the vaccination is carried out in stages several months before the season of tick activity. Remember: only such a vaccine guarantees complete immunity against the disease!
