From 100% imports to local production, the challenge in supplying raw materials for graphite electrodes in times of war ▫ Last year's steel production in the country was about 32 million tons, for which the industry needs 75 thousand tons of graphite electrodes. A material considered as a raw material for the production of electric arc steel, and until the launch of the new Ardacan electrode, 100% of the need was supplied through imports. But today the production capacity of this unit is about 30 thousand tons. As a result, this unit plays an important role in meeting the needs of steel units. However, according to Majed Amoy, the CEO of this company, the supply of raw materials for the production of electrodes such as needle coke is one of the challenges that deepened due to the war situation. ▫ Although this complex tried not to stop production in war conditions, today it needs an expert's point of view so that it can fulfill its important role in the steel value chain through the supply of raw materials.
