Protests against rising living costs, education cuts, and compulsory military service took place in over 30 cities. In the evening, some clashed with police. According to German media, it started after radical groups joined the marches. In Frankfurt, Berlin, Stuttgart, stones, sheds, eggs, and bottles were thrown at police officers. Barricades were also set on fire in Hamburg. In Leipzig, bus stations were destroyed and road signs were broken. In some cities, police used water cannons and tear gas.
