The direct elections for the mayor of Khabarovsk were cancelled. The head of the city administration will be elected by the deputies of the city duma according to the proposal of the governor Dmitry Loboiko, a political scientist: "For thirty years, the elected mayor of the capital was the only person in the region who had his own mandate, similar to that of the governor. Hence the main plot of regional politics: governor versus mayor. They argued about the budget, powers and who is more important to the voter. But it had to look at exactly this politics: to allies, to explain to the townspeople, to bargain. Now the conflict is over, and without a winner. The governor did not win against the mayor, the game was simply cancelled. Along with his opponent, the governor also lost the reason to be a politician. This is another facet of "Nomenclature 2.0": the manager does not need a competitor, and he himself gradually ceases to be a public figure." Read in full on the Echo website.
