A book about the book pirates of the Enlightenment - in Nikolai Alexandrov's "Little Books" section, the "New Literary Review" publishing house published Robert Darnton's book "Publishers and pirates. Making books in the Age of Enlightenment". Darnton examines how provincial publishers in France sold books printed abroad: the law did not prohibit this, and the publishers themselves, in the spirit of the Enlightenment, saw this as spreading knowledge. The book also traces how the concept of copyright emerged in the early 19th century.
