Northern Europe will create a naval alliance that will contain Russia.

Representatives from all ten Nordic countries (JEF) will sign on November 10 an agreement to share their navies to deter Russian military aggression in their region. British Chief of General Staff Richard Knighton told the "Financial Times" about it.

Earlier, the chief of the general staff called on military personnel to prepare for a possible war and warned them that political leaders would "very soon" begin an "open conversation" with civilians about how they should prepare for a military conflict with Moscow. In an interview with the FT, Richard Knighton echoed this message, saying: "The stronger we are, the better chance we have of preventing Russia from trying to spy on us."

According to Richard Knighton, the signing of the agreements will make the JEF countries led by Great Britain move from "memorandums of understanding, exchange of information and consultation" to practical action. "One of the most important tasks is to deter submarines from attacking or threatening maritime traffic in wartime," he said, adding that such actions would help ensure the security of not only Europe, but also the East Coast of the United States.
