The European Parliament committee relaxed the requirements for abandoning cars with internal combustion engines. F supported the proposal to reduce the emission requirements of what?₂ for new cars after 2035. 48 committee members voted "for", 30 "against" and two more abstained. From the text it appears that starting in 2035, the goal of reducing passenger car emissions must be reduced from 100 to 95% of the 2021 level. If the manufacturer uses "green" low-carbon steel, the requirement is reduced to 87.5%. This means that from 2035 at least every tenth car can still be produced with an internal combustion engine. Regarding the vans, they decided to reduce the target by 2030 from 50 to 35%, and by 2035 - from 100 to 80%. When using "green steel", an additional reduction of 7.5 percentage points is also given. The easing of requirements must now be approved by members of the European Parliament - a vote is expected to take place in December. At the same time, the Council of the European Union must present an official position. The European Parliament and EU countries will then have to finalize the amendments.
