Men in Germany are twice as likely as women to die in car accidents. Young people are at the greatest risk According to data from the German Federal Statistical Office (are you ready), published on the eve of International Men's Day, which is observed on November 3, one of the most significant risk factors for their health is related to road traffic: by the end of 2025, men were involved in road accidents more frequently than women and were much more likely to die in accidents. Last year, in general, the police recorded about 2.52 million traffic accidents, where men make up 59% of all victims (about 217 thousand people), women - 41% (a little more than 156 thousand). The total number of deaths increased compared to 2024 - from 2,770 to 2,830 people. On average, eight people die every day in car accidents in Germany. In terms of population, German men are injured on the roads by a third more than women - last year, for every 100 thousand there were 526 men who were injured in accidents, among women this figure was 369 cases. In terms of the number of deaths, the difference is even more pronounced. For every 100,000 inhabitants, about five men and two women died in traffic accidents. At the same time, the highest mortality rate is among young men aged 15 to 20. Two-wheeled vehicles pose an increased danger. In 2025, almost 11% of men injured in road accidents rode a motorcycle or electric scooter (only 3% of women).
