Polish Prime Minister Tusk refused to compromise in the dispute over the Constitutional Court The current President of Poland, Karol Norucki, and his predecessor, Andrzej Duda, are guilty of "destroying the rule of law", Donald Tusk said on the evening of October 31 in a video message to the country's citizens. He emphasized that it is his duty to ensure the safe operation of the court in accordance with the constitution and therefore he refuses to compromise in the conflict with the head of state and the conservative PiS party that supports him. "There can be no compromise on certain issues. Yelling and lies cannot be the source of law in Poland. And they won't be," he added. In his speech, the Prime Minister said, among other things, that the court in the format created by PiS "was not a real court". "We proposed to all the political forces and the two presidents decisions and laws that would jointly restore the rule of law. Everything was in vain, everything was blocked by the president and his party," said Tusk. Referring to Nabrotsky's breakthrough to the Constitutional Court building that was blocked by the police on the night of October 31st, the Prime Minister stated that "in a country governed by the rule of law, a politician cannot enter the court premises, issue decrees and terrorize judges, even if he is the president." Tusk's appeal came a day after one of the tribunal's judges, Anna Korwin-Piotruska, announced the temporary suspension of the chairman of this government agency, Bogdan Shwiechkowski, and the vice chairman Bartolomeo Suchanski, because in the opinion of the state government they are saboteurs in making important decisions. Another reason for the suspensions is Norucki's actual refusal to swear in new judges elected by Poland's parliament.
