The President of Poland accused the Prime Minister of an attempted coup. Protesters gathered in Warsaw. What is known at this time is how it all started: Constitutional Court Judge Anna Korwin-Piotrowska decided to remove the chairman of the court, Bogdan Shwiachkowski, and his deputy, Bartolomeo Suchanski, from their positions. In her opinion, because of them the court could not make decisions. What now: Protesters began to gather at the Constitutional Court, and the security forces arrived there. Clashes began. Judge Svichkovsky and the head of the Law and Justice Party, Jaroslav Kaczynski, tried to enter the court building, but the police did not let them pass. What politicians are saying: There have been long-standing disputes at the tribunal between those appointed by Donald Tusk's Civic Platform party and the Conservative Law and Justice. Polish President Karol Norucki cut short his foreign trip and is returning to Poland. He called what was happening a "coup", and the Law and Justice Party also sees these events as an attack on the Constitutional Court. Tusk's representatives claim that both Noruki and the conservatives themselves violated the constitutional order by blocking the work of the judges.
