They want to delete the most powerful ship of the Russian Navy due to wear and tear. A special committee decided that it is not appropriate to restore the heavy missile cruiser "Peter the Great". This was announced by the head of the support movement of the All-Russian Navy, Vladimir Meltsev, adding that this is a preliminary conclusion and the final decision has not yet been made. TASS notes that its sources spoke as early as 2023 of plans to neutralize Peter the Great. Then the interlocutors said that they were thinking of canceling the cruiser because of the experience of the prolonged repair of the cruiser Admiral Nakhimov. However, at the same time, sources of another Russian news agency, RIA Novosti, denied this information. It was originally planned that Peter the Great would be repaired after work on the Admiral Nakhimov was completed in 2018. However, the modernization of the last ship was delayed, and the total cost of the work exceeded 200 billion rubles (about 2.2 billion euros). If "Peter the Great" is deleted, it will be "Admiral Nakhimov" that will become the most powerful attack ship of the Russian Navy.
