The political scientist Kinev started a hunger strike in a detention center before a trial, the human rights channel on Telegram "ZHR" reported, referring to the lawyer Mikhail Biryukov. According to him, Alexander Kinev was put in a cell of 34 people, where "instead of a toilet there was a hole in the floor". Because of the cast on his leg, which was broken in two places, he cannot go to the bathroom. On October 22, the court in the city of Moscow left the political scientist in custody, despite the injuries he sustained during the arrest. Participating in the meeting via video link, Kinev spoke about the inability to move normally and receive qualified medical care at the detention center. Kinev was taken into custody on September 25 on charges of attempting to sell drugs on a large scale, which his friends and colleagues consider fabricated. According to the political scientist Yekaterina Shulman, her colleague is torturing him to extract a confession of treason.
