🔶 Diplomacy in the shadow of war; Will Tehran and Washington reach an agreement?
While Qatar is in communication between Tehran and Washington, the debate on the nuclear deal has been revived. But at the same time, the military alert, the disagreements in the Trump administration and the enriched uranium junction made the path of diplomacy difficult.
According to the New York Times report, citing five informed officials, the Islamic Republic of Iran is considering the proposals presented by the Qatari mediators in recent weeks. In one week, Qatar held two rounds of negotiations in Tehran and one round in Doha, and representatives of this country in Armenia also met with senior Iranian officials.
The content of the proposals was not disclosed, but officials described it as "specific and concrete."
This diplomatic move is taking place in a situation where the US and Israel have prepared a list of possible targets for a major ground attack on Iran, including the country's energy infrastructure. Tehran also warned that in the event of a new ground attack, the scope of its response would be wider than last time. The leaders of Iran and Rouhani are simultaneously discussing withdrawal from the Treaty on the Non-Proliferation of Nuclear Weapons (NPT).
