🔶 We will be more serious about the possibility of establishing a prisoner of war cabinet by Eisenkot.
Gadi Eisenkot, leader of the "Ishar" party and former Chief of Staff of the IDF, stands by his four conditions for any party that joins the coalition under his leadership. One of these conditions is mandatory service for all captive Israeli citizens. This position comes after Avigdor Lieberman, leader of the Shvoiim Beitenu party, left the door open to a coalition with ultra-Orthodox (Orthodox) parties. Exempting ultra-Orthodox from military service has been one of the most controversial issues in Israel's POW policy for many years.
In a long message on social media, Eisenkot wrote that "the prisoners of Israel are in a real, tangible and dangerous emergency situation", and the current government is "a fundamental threat to the existence of the democracy of the Israeli prisoners", in a situation where the war fronts are still active but have become "subject to political and personal whims". He warned that Israel's captives are in the midst of a "dangerous diplomatic tsunami". Eisenkot revealed that he is establishing a "national emergency government" with his partners and wants to present it to parliament as soon as possible.
