While the war with the Islamic Republic continues, the administration of Donald Trump, the President of the United States of America, has been conducting secret negotiations with the Iranian authorities for the return of Iranian citizens from the United States.

According to court documents unsealed Thursday (Nov. 5) and provided to The Associated Press, the US government had plans to deport a group of detained Iranians through a third country as late as mid-October. From these documents it appears that the contacts between the authorities of the two countries continued during the war, and the parties discussed issuing travel documents and examining the transfer routes of Iranian citizens.

Following concerns about the detainees' safety, the judge in the case ordered the US government to notify the court within 24 hours of any definite plan to deport Iranians to Iran or other countries. Also, the American authorities are obliged to give written notice at least five days before carrying out any deportation.

This decision was made after a complaint was filed by the "American Iranian Legal Defense Fund". This legal institution accused the Trump administration of providing secret information of some Iranian asylum seekers to the authorities of the Islamic Republic.
