🔶 Iran announced the burning of five oil tankers in the Strait of Hormuz.
The Revolutionary Guards and the Salami Republic Army announced in two separate announcements on Thursday (5 November) that five oil tankers and a tugboat had caught fire in the Strait of Hormuz. According to Iranian military officials, at least four oil tankers caught fire due to a collision with naval mines. To date, no independent maritime organization has confirmed the occurrence of these incidents.
The Revolutionary Guards reported for the first time that two oil tankers and a tugboat caught fire. According to the report of the Fars news agency, a large oil tanker was hit by a naval mine during the night as it passed south of the Strait of Hormuz and was stopped.
The Revolutionary Guards defined this route as "illegal passage" and claimed that the tanker intended to pass without complying with the restrictions set by the Republic of Salami.
In other incidents, a very large oil tanker caught fire leaving the eastern Strait of Hormuz and stopped moving. A tug that approached this oil tanker to control the fire also caught fire.
