🔶 South Korea sends a naval defense unit to the waters near the Strait of Hormuz.

South Korea's Ministry of Defense announced Thursday, November 5, that as part of a mission to help keep the Strait of Hormuz open, it will send naval patrol aircraft and an explosives disposal team to the waters near that area.

The publication of this news comes in a situation where Seoul continues to insist that it will not send a force to intervene militarily in the Iran war, but at the same time, it is trying to protect commercial shipping through this strategic sea passage.

The spokesperson of the Ministry of Defense of South Korea, who confirmed the reports published in this area, announced that the government of this country plans to expand the operational area of the naval anti-piracy unit "Chongha".

According to him, this unit, which is responsible for protecting commercial ships in the Gulf of Aden, near the coast of Somalia, is going to expand its activities to the waters near the Strait of Hormuz. In this regard, the Yonhap news agency reported that this mission will include a destroyer, a P-8 maritime patrol aircraft, an explosive ordnance disposal team, unmanned surface vessels, unmanned underwater vehicles and remote-controlled underwater search vehicles.
