🔶 Zelensky's unexpected trip to Berlin to meet with Martes.
German Chancellor Friedrich Mertes announced that Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky will arrive in Berlin on Tuesday, November 3 to deliver speeches. This trip has been kept secret for security reasons until the official announcement.
Military and financial aid to Ukraine is expected to be the main focus of this meeting.
To counter Russian attacks, Ukraine wants more missiles for the Patriot systems and also 70 billion euros of additional financial aid from European countries next year. Germany has previously announced that it has provided Ukraine with all the Patriot systems it can deliver without weakening its air defense capabilities.
Zelensky's meeting with Martes coincides with new efforts to end Russia's war of aggression on Ukrainian soil. Steve Witkoff, Trump's special envoy for peace in the Middle East and Ukraine said that US, Russian and Ukrainian advisers are going to discuss security, de-escalation and post-war humanitarian aid in Abu Dhabi on November 10 and 11.
Germany expects European representatives to attend the meeting, although they probably won't participate directly in the main negotiations.
