🔶 Trump: I don't want the war with Iran to drag on like the Vietnam War.
US President Donald Trump said he does not want the current war with Iran to turn into a long-term conflict like the Vietnam War.
He continued in an interview with the "New York Post" on Monday, November 2: "We have not yet delivered a decisive blow to Iran, because we want to negotiate and they also have such a demand."
Comparing the current war to the wars in Vietnam and Afghanistan, the US president said that his country is now in its seventh month of war and has lost 18 soldiers so far, while the death toll in past long-term wars was much higher.
Trump also emphasized that the US wants to prevent Iran from obtaining a nuclear bomb and continued: "The Iranians are still talking about negotiations, but at some point we may have to finish the job through military action."
