🔶 Xi Jinping's warning because the Middle East is becoming an arena of great power competition.

Xi Jinping, President of China, on Monday, November 2 (Stone 11), in a meeting with Haitham bin Tariq, Sultan of Oman, in Beijing, stated that the Middle East and the Persian Gulf region should not become an arena of competition between the world's great powers and geopolitical clashes.

The Chinese president emphasized that Beijing is ready to cooperate with Arab countries in order to achieve sustainable peace. He added: "China is ready to strengthen its communication and coordination with Arab countries, including membership in the Persian Gulf Cooperation Council, in order to return to peace and achieve lasting stability and security."

China has traditionally played a low-key role in Middle East diplomacy, but it has stepped up its efforts to end tensions and conflict between Tehran and Washington. The Persian Gulf and the Strait of Hormuz play an important role in supplying China's fuel and energy needs. In his meeting with the Sultan of Oman, Xi said that the world is now undergoing "fundamental and unprecedented changes" and therefore, peace and stability in the region "require joint efforts and protection of all parties".

In this meeting, the Chinese President stated that Beijing has always tried to end this war and hopes that wisdom and a prudent approach will help achieve security.

China's Foreign Ministry announced last week that this country will soon send special envoys to the Middle East in order to strengthen cooperation and also reduce tensions.

In his meeting with Xi, the Sultan of Oman, while evaluating China's positions and efforts, stated that development and stability are inseparable, and that the prosperity of countries requires security, peace, respect for national sovereignty and compliance with international law. He also announced Oman's willingness to sign trade agreements and bilateral contracts.
