🔶 American warning to the German intelligence agency after the former president was arrested.

According to a joint investigation by the radio and television networks WDR, NDR and the newspaper Zeitung, after the arrest of August Henning, the head of the German Foreign Intelligence Service (BND), the American intelligence services warned this organization that the intelligence cooperation between the two countries "will be examined".

This warning was raised in connection with a case known as one of the biggest scandals in the history of the German foreign intelligence organization.

The main fear of German intelligence officials is that the US, the country's most important intelligence partner, will limit the exchange of classified information with Berlin.

August Henning, former head of the foreign intelligence organization and security adviser, was arrested about three weeks ago, along with Manfred D., his former chief of staff.

Germany's Federal Prosecutor's Office accused Hanning that for about 12 years, with the help of Manfred D. , one of the veteran employees of this intelligence and espionage organization, gained access to the sensitive documents of this organization. He is also accused of trying to provide classified information to foreign entities at least once.

The charges leveled in this case include "attempted treason, gathering information on government prisoners, espionage for the purpose of treason and intelligence activity for foreign parties."
