🔶 Qatar signed a 20-year contract to purchase liquid gas from the United States.
"Catranergy" announced on Thursday that it signed a 20-year contract with the Australian "Woodside Energy" company for the annual purchase of three million tons of liquefied natural gas, Elanji, from the Louisiana project in the United States.
Cargo deliveries from this project under construction are scheduled to begin in 2030.
Saad Al-Kaabi, Minister of Energy Affairs of Qatar and CEO of Qatar Energy, said: "This additional volume makes Qatar Energy the largest buyer of liquefied natural gas from the US and puts us in a better position to meet the growing global demand for this fuel."
This agreement was signed in the context of the escalation of tensions in the Middle East and the disruption of the transfer of energy from the Strait of Hormuz.
Qatar, one of the world's largest exporters of liquefied natural gas, depends on this route to deliver its shipments to customers in Asia and Europe.
