Kuwait summons Tehran's ambassador in protest over Iranian embassy statement On Wednesday, October 28, Kuwait announced its official opposition to the Iranian embassy's position regarding a court case by summoning Mohammad Tutuchi, the ambassador of the Islamic Republic of Iran. The Kuwaiti Foreign Ministry stated that this statement interferes in the country's internal affairs and casts doubt on the independence of the judiciary. Referring to the statement issued by Iran, Kuwait's Ministry of Foreign Affairs stated that it is against any interference in the judgments given by the courts in this country and asked Iran to respect international law and the United Nations Charter. This dispute intensified after three defendants were sentenced to death in Kuwait. On Tuesday, the courts in this country sentenced the Iranian citizen Abdulreza Haider Dehgani and two others to death on charges of espionage for the Islamic Republic, cooperation with Hezbollah in Lebanon and planning the assassination of the Minister of the Interior. The Iranian embassy in Kuwait denied these accusations and did not accept the claim that the Iranian citizen was involved in an action against Kuwaiti security.
