🔶 Kuwait sentenced three people to death on charges of collaboration with Iran and membership in Hezbollah.

Kuwait sentenced three men to death for collaborating with the Islamic Republic, planning the assassination of the deputy prime minister and joining Hezbollah. On Monday, October 26, Agence France-Presse reported that the men were from the Shia Muslim community in Kuwait, citing two judicial sources. The Shiites make up about a third of Kuwait's population.

Hussein Abdullah al-Matouk, one of the religious figures and the former secretary general of the National Salami Coalition, is one of the three people sentenced to death by the criminal court. This summer, the Emir of Kuwait revoked the citizenship of Hussein Abdullah al-Mutuk by decree.

According to this report, another prisoner was previously convicted of assassination operations in 2016, but was later pardoned by the Emir of Kuwait. According to legal sources, this person was arrested again in April.

The court also sentenced 11 other people related to this case to five years of hard labor. Kuwait has classified the Islamic Republic-backed Hezbollah militant group as an assassination organization.
