Officials of Saudi Arabia, Turkey and Pakistan are leaving for Tehran.
According to the Reuters news agency, the top officials of the member states of the Mecca Treaty (Saudi Arabia, Turkey and Pakistan) will go to Tehran on Monday, October 26 to talk with the officials of the Islamic Republic about regional coordination.
Two knowledgeable sources who requested anonymity told Reuters that Prince Khalid bin Salman, Saudi Arabia's defense minister, and Wasim Munir, Pakistan's army chief, would represent their countries at the meeting. One of these sources said that the head of Turkish intelligence will also participate in this meeting.
According to Reuters, the Saudi Arabian government's communications ministry, Pakistan's military communications branch and Turkey's foreign ministry did not respond to this news agency's request for comment. The visit by officials from Saudi Arabia, Turkey and Pakistan to Iran will be the first high-level contact between the Islamic Republic and all members of the Mecca Accord since the escalation of attacks by the Iran-backed Houthis on Saudi Arabia.
