In an interview with the New York Times, two Iranian officials confirmed Tehran's attempt to harm the Americans.

Two senior Iranian officials confirmed in an interview with the "New York Times" that Tehran is preparing to attack American diplomats and employees. These two people, whose names have not been revealed and one of them is a member of the Revolutionary Guards, told this newspaper that targeting American officials is a "permissible and acceptable" action considering the killing of a large number of Iranian officials and some of their family members in US attacks and captivity in Israel.

At the same time, an American official told the "New York Times" that there is evidence showing that Tehran has operatives on American soil who "are not just Iranian citizens." The release of this report came as Jay Clayton, the US director of national intelligence, recently warned Marco Rubio, that country's secretary of state, that the Islamic Republic had "significantly increased" its efforts to harm Americans in the Middle East and other parts of the world.
