🔶 tensions between Iran and Azerbaijan; Disagreement about hijab or beyond?
Report by Murad Rahmati
The new restrictions on religious dress in the schools of the Republic of Azerbaijan has once again put the strained relations between Tehran and Baku in the spotlight. While the officials in the Islamic Republic of Iran talk about the right of hijab girls to study, the officials of the Republic of Azerbaijan emphasize that the determination of school regulations is an internal matter of this country.
In addition to the land and sea border in the Caspian Sea, Iran and the Republic of Azerbaijan have extensive historical, cultural and religious ties. Both countries are members of the Economic Cooperation Organization "ECO", the "Salami Cooperation Organization" and the "Organization of the Non-Aligned States".
The Republic of Azerbaijan, unlike the Islamic Republic of Iran, has a "secular" political system, and its close political and military relationship with the POWs is one of the most important factors in the difference between the two countries.
