British fighter jets took part in the French nuclear exercise for the first time.

French authorities have announced that British fighter jets have taken part for the first time in an exercise involving the country's airborne nuclear force.

This joint exercise was held in the sky of the Mediterranean and under the conditions of increasing tensions with Russia.

In July 2025, France and Britain agreed to strengthen bilateral nuclear cooperation in response to growing threats to European security and growing doubts about the commitments of their American ally.

In this context, on Friday, October 23, Catherine Waterne, Minister of the Armed Forces of France, said: "The use of independent nuclear forces is not an obstacle to coordination."

He added: "Our nuclear cooperation with the UK is still expanding. On Tuesday evening, British Typhoon jets participated for the first time in a French nuclear exercise alongside Rafale fighter jets."
